Why are we doing this?

Why are we doing this?
It’s no question that AI tools are pushing the threshold of media production, but that’s come with growing pains. While we believe that these tools can enable creatives to tell their stories without limits, break down longstanding barriers to entry, and give new voices a seat at the table, their adoption faces criticism and resistance.

With the Chroma Awards, we aim to bring emerging technology and creative talent together in dialogue to find a productive way forward.

To achieve our goal, we are hosting a global competition that connects companies, creators, and communities to showcase best-in-class content, that’s transparent about how AI tools are used across the spectrum of Film, Music, and Games.

Providing tangible solutions - not platitudes - is incredibly important to us. This season, we are offering education on how to use these tools, free trials to get hands, a large cash prize pool, and distribution, internship, and job opportunities.

Human authorship is at the center of our competition. We spotlight boundary pushing work - not "AI Slop" - to breakdown the stigma of using these tools to create art or tell impactful stories.

Community

Our initiative is built by creators, for creators. We provide a platform, opportunities, and resources to a new generation of artists by partnering with over 50 global creator communities.

Accessibility

Creativity is for everyone. We aim to break down the barriers to entry so that anyone can succeed, no matter their background. What’s most important is the strength of your idea and your ability to realize it.

Education

Knowledge should be shared freely, not gatekept. We provide participants with free trials and educational opportunities to help upskill both first-timers and creative veterans.
